📖 Key Information

England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike stands at 978m (3,209ft) and is the supreme objective for every Lakeland walker. Wainwright treated it with great respect in his Southern Fells guide, though he was quick to note it is a rough, stony plateau rather than a shapely peak — the scenery comes not from the summit itself but from the vast panorama around it: the Isle of Man, Ireland, Wales and dozens of Lakeland summits on a clear day. Three classic approaches serve it — from Wasdale, from Borrowdale via Esk Hause, and from Great Langdale via the Band — each a superb mountain day in its own right.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
