📖 Key Information

Brim Fell at 796m (2,611ft) is the intermediate summit between the Old Man of Coniston and Swirl How on the main Coniston ridge, a broad, grassy top that most walkers cross without pausing. Wainwright included it as a separate fell, noting its relatively featureless summit belies the quality of the ridge walk it forms part of. The views west to the Duddon estuary and the sea are distinctive from this point. Most naturally combined with the Old Man and Swirl How as part of the Coniston Horseshoe, one of the most satisfying circular walks in the southern fells — a full day's outing taking in over 1,000m of ascent.

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
