📖 Key Information

Dove Crag at 792m (2,598ft) takes its name from the impressive cliff on its eastern face above Dovedale — a favourite with rock climbers and a dramatic feature visible from the valley below. Wainwright described the crag as one of the finest in the Eastern Fells, though the walker's route stays safely above it on the broad ridge. The summit is part of the classic Fairfield Horseshoe, and the high-level path along the Fairfield ridge gives good views across to Helvellyn and south to Windermere. An essential part of any full traverse of the Dove Crag-Hart Crag-Fairfield ridge.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
