📖 Key Information

Ill Bell at 757m (2,484ft) is the highest of the classic Kentmere Horseshoe ridge, a shapely, rocky summit with a wonderful collection of cairns and fine views south to Windermere and the Kent estuary. Wainwright described the Ill Bell ridge as one of the most satisfying in the Far Eastern Fells — the traverse from Yoke to Thornthwaite Crag above the Troutbeck valley is a Lakeland classic. The summit gives outstanding views of the Langdale Pikes and Helvellyn range to the west. The Kentmere Horseshoe via Ill Bell, Froswick and Yoke is an excellent full-day circuit.
