It helps walkers in the English Lake District identify Birkett summits that can be combined with Wainwright and Outlying Fell routes. The Website provides maps, parking suggestions, public transport information, and weather forecasts drawn from third-party sources.

The only network requests made by your browser when using this Website are to retrieve map tiles (OpenStreetMap / OpenTopoMap) and weather data (Open-Meteo). Saving your progress. If you use the "tick fells you've climbed" feature, your list of bagged fells is saved only in your own browser's local storage (a localStorage entry on your device). This data never leaves your device and is never sent to, or seen by, hikes.guide or any third party — there is no account and no server copy. It is purely functional storage that you actively request by ticking fells, so it does not require a consent banner under PECR. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data, and you can back it up using the Export button. Clearing your browser data (or your browser automatically evicting local storage) will erase your progress, so use Export if you want to keep it.
The Website operator reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Website after any change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
