📖 Key Information

Catstycam at 890m (2,920ft) is the perfect mountain in miniature — a shapely, symmetrical cone above Red Tarn that Wainwright described as one of the finest summit shapes in Lakeland. Its isolation from the main Helvellyn ridge, connected only by the narrow crest of Swirral Edge, gives it a dramatic, separate presence. The view from its summit across Red Tarn to Helvellyn and Striding Edge is arguably the finest close-up mountain view in the Eastern Fells. Approached from Glenridding via Keppel Cove or as a detour from Swirral Edge. Often overlooked in favour of its famous neighbour, but unmissable for those who love shapely summits.
