📖 Key Information

Great Borne at 616m (2,021ft) is an isolated, rounded summit above Ennerdale Water, its summit giving excellent views of the lake and the remote Ennerdale valley below. Wainwright noted the fine Ennerdale views from the summit and the pleasant, solitary character of this less-visited western fell. The ascent from Ennerdale or Lamplugh is across open moorland. Combined naturally with Starling Dodd for a circuit above Ennerdale Water.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
