📖 Key Information

Red Pike (Buttermere) at 755m (2,477ft) is the northernmost of the three great Buttermere ridge summits, its summit giving one of the finest views of Crummock Water and Buttermere from the Western Fells. Wainwright described the view north from Red Pike looking down to Scale Beck and across Crummock Water to Mellbreak as one of the finest lake views in western Lakeland. The descent via Scale Force — Lakeland's highest waterfall — is a classic route. Most naturally part of the High Stile ridge traverse from Buttermere via Scarth Gap.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
