📖 Key Information

Grisedale Pike at 791m (2,595ft) is the most conspicuous of the North Western Fells, a fine, sharp pyramid above Braithwaite that Wainwright described as the dominant feature of the Coledale skyline. Its steep north-west ridge above Braithwaite is one of the most popular ascents in the district — straightforward, direct and rewarded with excellent views of the Skiddaw massif across Bassenthwaite Lake and south to the Helvellyn range. The horseshoe taking in Hopegill Head, Eel Crag and Sail is one of the great Lakeland circuits.

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
