📖 Key Information

Rannerdale Knotts at 355m (1,165ft) is a small, delightful ridge of rocky knolls above Crummock Water, giving some of the finest views of the lake from any fell in the North Western Fells. Wainwright praised the view from Rannerdale Knotts across Crummock Water to Grasmoor as one of the most beautiful lake views in the district. Famous for its carpet of bluebells in spring. The short ascent from Buttermere is thoroughly rewarding for the lake views. A perfect short afternoon fell for visitors to Buttermere.

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
