📖 Key Information

Causey Pike at 637m (2,090ft) is one of the most attractive North Western summits — a pointed, rocky knob visible from across Derwent Water that Wainwright regarded as giving one of the finest low-level views of the lake. Its distinctive profile makes it instantly recognisable. The ascent from Stoneycroft via Rowling End is a classic route — steep but short, with outstanding views of Derwent Water improving rapidly. The starting point for the Coledale Horseshoe from the Newlands valley. The summit views north across Derwent Water to Skiddaw are magnificent.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
