📖 Key Information

Pike of Stickle at 709m (2,326ft) is the most distinctive of the Langdale Pikes — a soaring, pointed summit of volcanic rock that thrusts skyward above the head of Langdale. Wainwright described it as the most shapely and exciting of the four Langdale summits, its steep sides and pointed top making it recognisable from miles away. The ascent from Stickle Tarn is a short, steep scramble, and the summit views — particularly down into the deep hollow of Dungeon Ghyll and across to Harrison Stickle — are magnificent. Near the summit is one of the finest Neolithic stone axe factories in Britain.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
