📖 Key Information

Calf Crag at 537m (1,762ft) is the northernmost summit of the Central Fells above Greenburn, a rocky top giving fine views down into Wythburn and north to the Helvellyn range. Wainwright described it as a pleasant, often solitary summit on a less frequented corner of the Central Fells. The approach via the Greenburn valley from Grasmere is quiet and scenic. Combined naturally with Gibson Knott and Helm Crag for the classic Far Easedale horseshoe from Grasmere — one of the finest full-day circuits from the village.
