📖 Key Information

Watson's Dodd at 789m (2,589ft) is a smooth, grassy summit on the northern Helvellyn ridge between Stybarrow Dodd and Great Dodd, its open top giving views north towards Skiddaw and east to the Pennines. Wainwright included it as a separate fell, noting its pleasant, unhurried character on a ridge that offers excellent sustained walking. The summit is most naturally reached as part of the northern Dodds traverse from Sticks Pass. The approach from Dockray along the broad ridge is straightforward and rewarding, with the full Helvellyn range visible to the south throughout the walk.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
