📖 Key Information

Glaramara at 783m (2,569ft) is the great ridge fell of upper Borrowdale, a long, complex summit with multiple rocky tops and a character quite unlike its smoother neighbours. Wainwright devoted considerable space to it, highlighting the intricate, interesting terrain of its upper reaches — a playground of small tarns, rock outcrops and hidden hollows. The classic traverse from Seathwaite over the full ridge to Esk Hause and Allen Crags is one of the finest long walks in Lakeland. The summit views across Borrowdale and north to the Skiddaw massif are particularly fine. A fell of quiet, absorbing character that rewards the unhurried walker.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
