📖 Key Information

The Knott at 739m (2,425ft) stands above Hayeswater tarn, the highest and most secluded of the Eastern Fell tarns. Wainwright described the view from the summit across Hayeswater as one of the most satisfying in the Far Eastern Fells — the tarn cradled in its glaciated bowl with the High Street ridge rising behind. The ascent from Hartsop is short and direct via the tarn path. Often combined with Rest Dodd and Angletarn Pikes for a fine circuit above Patterdale. A good viewpoint for the whole High Street range.

No regular bus serves the start points for this fell — this is one for the car (or a long approach from the nearest served valley). The nearest hubs are Penrith (X4/X5 & 508), Ambleside and Windermere (555, 505, 516).
