📖 Key Information

Hallin Fell at 388m (1,273ft) is one of Lakeland's most perfectly formed little summits — a grassy cone projecting into Ullswater above Howtown, its summit giving the finest aerial view of the lake's two bends in all of Lakeland. Wainwright was clearly delighted by it, describing the view from the top as one of the most beautiful in the district for its modest height. The ascent from Howtown or Martindale is short and the view instantaneous on reaching the top. Best combined with the Ullswater steamer for an effortless approach.

No regular bus serves the start points for this fell — this is one for the car (or a long approach from the nearest served valley). The nearest hubs are Penrith (X4/X5 & 508), Ambleside and Windermere (555, 505, 516).
