📖 Key Information

Birker Fell at 478m (1,568ft) is a broad moorland plateau above Eskdale, its open summit giving sweeping views south-west to the Duddon estuary and the Cumbrian coast. Wainwright included it as part of the outlying fell group above lower Eskdale, noting its wide, grassy top and the sense of spaciousness it offers — quite different from the rugged fells to the north. The ascent from Eskdale is unhurried and pleasant, crossing good walking country. The views of Harter Fell (Eskdale) and Green Crag from the approach are particularly fine. A quiet, rewarding summit away from the main crowds.
