📖 Key Information

Artle Crag at 344m (1,129ft) is one of the lower Far Eastern Fells, a modest summit above Swindale with views east across the Shap Fells. Wainwright included it as part of the remote Haweswater eastern shore area, noting its quiet, unhurried character. The ascent from Swindale is across open moorland. A fell for those who enjoy the sense of remoteness of the eastern Lake District.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

These Birkett tops are not Wainwright summits — detour to them on this walk and they are pure profit. Distances are straight-line; allow extra for terrain.
