Burney at 298m (978ft) is a small Outlying Fell south of Coniston in the lower fells of the Furness peninsula, giving pleasant views across the Crake valley and south towards Morecambe Bay. Wainwright included it in his Outlying Fells guide as part of the South Lakeland group. A gentle, undemanding walk with good low-level views.

Forestry England car park on the east side of the lake road south of Brantwood (OS SD 301 893). A steeper alternative start for the Bethecar Moor fells, climbing through the woodland past Parkamoor.

Small, free car park about 0.8 miles N of High Nibthwaite (OS SD 296 909; what3words ///fault.swordfish.insect). The hidden entrance is immediately after a field on the right. The natural start for the quiet Bethecar Moor / Blawith Birketts (Low & High Light Haw, Arnsbarrow Hill), with a path up through the woods. High Nibthwaite's own roadside laybys are very limited, so use Crab Haws to avoid blocking farm access.
