Reston Scar at 255m (837ft) is an Outlying Fell above Staveley, its rocky scarp edge giving views across the pastoral valley towards Windermere and the Lake District fells. Wainwright included it in his Outlying Fells guide.

Buses
The 6 and 555 stop at Staveley, at Brow Lane, a 400 m walk from the nearest parking for this fell. We haven’t mapped a route up it, so we can’t tell you the walk from there to the start. As timetabled from 27 October to 1 November. Towards Kendal (555): Tuesday to Saturday 23:54; Sunday 20:52. Towards Kendal (6): Tuesday to Saturday 16:16; Sunday 22:29. Checked against the operator’s timetable, 24 September 2026. Times here are a guide, not a promise — leave yourself more than the minute.
By train: Staveley station is 840 m on foot from the nearest parking for this fell (Reston Scar car park (free)). We haven’t mapped a route up it from there, so we can’t tell you the walk to the start. First train in 06:30, last train out 22:52, Monday to Friday, checked 12 September, valid to the 12 December timetable change; Saturday and Sunday.
At the station: Staveley station has no step-free access to any platform, and there are no toilets. The rest of what meets that train. Station facilities: NationalRail (Train Information Services Ltd).
