📖 Key Information

Skiddaw at 931m (3,054ft) is the fourth highest fell in England and one of Wainwright's great favourites for its distinctive character — a mountain of broad, smooth ridges and sweeping, slate-grey slopes quite unlike the rocky Central and Western Fells. He described the view from the summit as among the most extensive in Britain, taking in Scotland, the Isle of Man, Wales, Yorkshire and much of northern England on a clear day. The classic ascent via Jenkin Hill from Keswick or via Ullock Pike and Long Side is straightforward but rewarding. The mountain has a strong sense of solitude and grandeur on its northern face.
