Knott at 674m (2,211ft) in the Howgill Fells is a broad summit on the central Howgill plateau, giving wide views of the surrounding smooth, rounded hills. Wainwright explored the Howgills in his Outlying Fells guide, noting the distinctive character of these hills — grassy, open and entirely free of walls, fences and access restrictions. A pleasant, unhurried summit in this undervisited range.
