📖 Key Information

Hooker Crag at 221m (725ft) is a small, rocky summit above the Esk estuary near Ravenglass, its craggy top giving fine views of the estuary and the coastal plain. Wainwright included it in his Outlying Fells guide. A pleasant short walk from the Ravenglass area with fine estuary views. The views of the Scafell group from this coastal position are excellent on clear days.

🎯 Bonus Birketts within 3 km

No bonus Birketts within 3 km — every Birkett near here is already a Wainwright summit, so just enjoy the walk.

🚌 Buses from Penrith / Ambleside / Windermere

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway (“La'al Ratty”)
Ravenglass (Cumbrian Coast main line) – Eskdale Green – Dalegarth for Boot
Catch it from: Connects from the Cumbrian Coast line (not from Penrith/Ambleside/Windermere directly)
Not a bus, but the only public transport into Eskdale. Wasdale has no public transport at all — car (or a long walk in) is the realistic option for the Wasdale fells.
