Keswick Agricultural Show is the northern Lakes' big traditional show, held on the August bank-holiday Monday in fields near Braithwaite, just outside Keswick. Expect prize Lakeland livestock (the Herdwicks are a highlight), heavy horses and fell ponies, sheepdog trials, hound and terrier classes, Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, a fell race from the main ring, and horticulture and handicraft marquees.
Good to know: the 2026 show is confirmed for bank-holiday Monday 31 August — details on the official site (opens in new tab). It's an outdoor, very family-friendly day; paid entry on the gate (cash or card), free parking next to the show field, and dogs are welcome on leads. A free vintage shuttle bus runs from Keswick (outside the Quaker Meeting House, opposite Booths) from 9am.
Getting there & nearby: Keswick is on the A66 (no station) — see our Keswick guide for parking and buses. Pair it with an easy fell like Latrigg or a lap of Derwentwater on the launch.
Dates and details can change — always confirm on the official site (opens in new tab) before you travel.
